Why Johnson Technology Academy
Technology has changed, but education hasn’t caught up.
Artificial intelligence is already part of how young people write, search, create, and learn. Most use it daily, but almost none have been taught how it works, where it fails, or how to build with it responsibly.
Understanding
Students learn how AI systems work — not as magic, but as tools built by people, with real limitations and real decisions behind them.
Capability
Every cohort ends with a project students built themselves. They leave with something they made, not just something they watched.
Access
Programs are free, require no equipment, and run in community settings. The only requirement is curiosity.

No cost or barriers to participation
Programs are free. Materials are provided. No prior experience is required, and no student is turned away.
Hands-on from the first session
Students build and experiment rather than watch. Every session produces something a student made themselves.
Taught by people who do this work
Sessions are led by trained instructors drawn from the technology industry.
Open to all
Programs welcome any young person aged 8 to 17. What matters is curiosity for learning, not experience.

Johnson Technology Academy is built to operate across regions: Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, South America, and Europe. The model travels because it is built on skills and access, not on any single region's circumstances.
Caribbean
JTA delivers programs directly in Caribbean with expansion planned across the region. Cohorts run in schools and community spaces, with trained local facilitators.
Canada and United States
In Canada and the USA, JTA's role is to build the partnerships and funding that make Caribbean delivery possible. We work with corporations, foundations, and institutions that want to invest in the next generation of technologists.
JTA works with university partners to develop curriculum and train facilitators — bringing academic rigour to community delivery.
